When the Fear Of Music tour ended, the band took some holidays to work on individual projects. Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth worked on Tom Tom Club, Jerry Harrison produced several Nona Hendryx works, and David Byrne went to a California desert to work with Brian Eno in My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts, a project where they investigated on ethnyc rhythms. Many ideas born in this project were used in Remain In Light.David Byrne's collaboration with Brian Eno was so strong that Brian Eno wanted to sign the recording as a work of David Byrne and Brian Eno alone, not including the rest of the Talking Heads. Of course this was the source of many internal fights in the band. Brian Eno didn't want the band to make a tour for this album, but finally, in October 1980, the album was recorded by Talking Heads and produced by Brian Eno.
